The RAM CA-5100-O A-Frame Trailer Coupler provides a secure, dependable connection for utility, cargo, landscaping, agricultural, and light equipment trailers. Designed for a standard 2″ hitch ball, this stamped-steel coupler is rated for a maximum 5,000 lb trailer capacity.
The coupler is factory ball-fitted to help provide a proper connection to the hitch ball. Its top-mounted lever latch is designed for straightforward coupling and uncoupling, while the A-frame configuration allows it to be welded directly to a compatible trailer tongue.
The raw-steel coupler is protected with a light oil coating for storage and fabrication. The oil must be removed from all welding and finishing areas before installation, priming, painting, or coating.

Factory Ball-Fitted Coupler
RAM stamped couplers are factory fitted to the specified hitch-ball size to help provide a secure and consistent connection when properly latched. The CA-5100-O is designed exclusively for a standard 2″ hitch ball.
Always verify that the hitch ball is the correct size and that the latch closes completely before towing. The coupler should fit securely without excessive looseness, binding, or visible damage.
Top-Mounted Lever Latch
The integrated lever-style top latch provides convenient access when coupling or uncoupling the trailer. Before towing, verify that the latch is fully closed, properly secured, and operating correctly.
Raw Steel with Light Oil Coating
The CA-5100-O is supplied in raw steel with a protective light oil coating rather than a permanent painted or plated finish. This allows the coupler to be welded into a new trailer build or replacement installation before applying the builder’s preferred primer and finish.
Thoroughly remove the oil and other contaminants from the welding areas before installation. After fabrication, clean, prime, and finish all exposed steel to provide appropriate corrosion protection.
