Build your own 5′ × 10′ hydraulic dump trailer with the professionally engineered DT510-07J Dump Trailer Plans. Designed for a maximum 7,000 lb gross trailer weight rating, this compact single-axle dump trailer provides excellent hauling capability while remaining easier to maneuver, tow, and store than many larger tandem-axle dump trailers.

The finished trailer is designed around a 60″ wide × 120″ long dump bed with an approximate overall width of 82″ at the fenders and an approximate overall length of 14′ 9″. Depending on material choices, installed equipment, and selected options, estimated empty weight is approximately 2,300–2,600 lbs, providing an estimated payload of approximately 4,400–4,700 lbs while remaining within the 7,000 lb gross trailer weight rating.

The trailer features a welded steel frame with rectangular tubing main members and a 10- or 11-gauge steel dump-bed floor. Builders can configure the trailer with double-eye or slipper leaf spring suspension and choose either a straight or drop axle. The hydraulic system is designed around the Dexter PH416 Hydraulic Scissor Hoist.

The DT510-07J Dump Trailer Plans are specifically designed around the Dexter PH416 Hydraulic Scissor Hoist. The trailer frame, dump bed, hinge assembly, hoist mounting locations, and structural load paths were engineered to work together as a complete hydraulic dump trailer system.

Important Capacity Information

The 7,000 lb rating is the maximum gross trailer weight rating (GTWR), which includes the completed trailer and everything loaded in or on it. It is not the trailer’s payload capacity.

Final empty weight and available payload depend on the materials used, steel thickness, installed equipment, optional features, fabrication methods, and completed trailer configuration. The builder is responsible for weighing the completed trailer and verifying its available payload before use.

Always use a properly rated tow vehicle, hitch, coupler, safety chains, tires, wheels, axle, brakes, and related towing equipment. The completed trailer must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
