Engineered for 10’–14′ dump beds, the genuine Dexter PH516 Power Hoist provides up to 8 tons (16,000 lb) of hydraulic hoist capacity when properly applied. Its heavy-duty scissor design provides stable lifting geometry and strong lifting reserve for new dump trailer builds, replacement systems, gooseneck dump trailers, truck dump bodies, and custom applications.

Understanding Hoist Capacity vs. Trailer GVWR

The PH516 capacity chart below shows how dump-body length, rear overhang, and dump angle affect published hoist capacity. Actual lifting performance also depends on bed weight, hoist mounting position, hinge geometry, hydraulic pressure, and load placement. A load concentrated toward the front of the dump bed requires greater lifting force and may reduce lifting performance compared with an evenly distributed load. The published chart assumes a water-level, non-diminishing load.

Published Capacity Assumptions:

1. Water-level, non-diminishing load.
2. Vertical height between the rear hinge pivot and floor is at least 3 inches.
3. Hydraulic relief pressure is set at 3,200 PSI.

Because applications vary, these capacities are provided as a general guide only.

Hoist Capacity Does Not Determine Trailer GVWR: Use the PH516 chart above to evaluate hoist performance for your bed length, rear overhang, and desired dump angle. The chart does not establish or increase the trailer’s GVWR or allowable payload. Those ratings depend on the complete trailer design and all rated components, including the frame, axles, suspension, brakes, wheels, tires, coupler, and hitch.

Verify Fitment: Review the PH516 dimensional drawing in the product gallery or resources section before ordering to confirm mounting space and installation geometry.

KTI Three-Button Hydraulic Pump System

The Standard, Pro, and Pro Max configurations include a KTI 3-quart 12V DC hydraulic power unit with a 15′ wired three-button remote. The operator can raise the dump bed using power-up, lower it hydraulically using power-down, or select gravity-down operation when appropriate for the application.

Gravity-down allows the bed to lower without running the hydraulic motor, helping reduce electrical demand and conserve trailer battery power. Powered lowering provides controlled hydraulic force in the lowering direction when the application calls for it.

Dexter Power Jack Add-On Systems — Pro & Pro Max

The Pro and Pro Max packages add genuine Dexter Power Jack hydraulic trailer jacks powered by the kit’s KTI hydraulic pump. An inline selector valve routes hydraulic flow to either the PH516 dump hoist or the jack system, providing powered tongue lifting without the cost, weight, wiring, battery cables, and maintenance requirements of a second pump.

• Pro Package: Includes the Single Dexter Power Jack Add-On Kit with an inline selector valve for push-button tongue lifting and leveling.
• Pro Max Package: Includes the Dual Dexter Power Jack Add-On Kit with an inline selector valve and hydraulic flow divider for synchronized operation and increased front lifting stability.
